At our Day Support Activities (DSA) program, mornings begin not with a rush, but with a ritual. By 9 a.m., the aroma of fresh coffee and hot cocoa fills the air as clients begin to arrive for the day. This isn’t just about caffeine—it’s about connection. Over steaming mugs clients and staff chat about the day ahead and set the tone for a day rooted in community and purpose.

As the day begins, clients dive into a variety of activities designed to support their individual goals. These goals are as unique as the clients themselves—some might be working on math skills, computer literacy, or writing, while others focus on communication or vocational training. Whatever the skill, every activity is a step toward greater independence. But DSA isn’t just about solo work. We also offer structured group times that bring everyone together for shared experiences. These sessions might include: art projects that spark creativity, group reading to work on literacy and listening skills, sign language and even gardening and cooking! These group activities are more than just fun they are powerful tools for building social bonds and fostering a sense of belonging.

Don’t think the experience stays inside. Our DSA groups are often out in the community, visiting local businesses, exploring new places, and discovering how the world works. These outings are a chance to practice social skills, learn about different roles in the community, and see firsthand how each person can contribute meaningfully. Whether it’s a trip to the library, a tour of a local bank, or a community event, these experiences help clients connect with the world around them and envision their place in it to set goals.

DSA is out for the day at 2:00pm and clients, now a little more wise and world traveled are packed up for the day and ready for the ride home, having spent the day learning, growing, and connecting. Our days of DSA are a balance of structure and fun guided for personal development and community engagement.
It is our dedicated DSA staff who keep the program running. Our staff have a deep commitment to each client’s well being and they encourage exploration, celebrate progress, and do their part to make every day a little brighter.
